ABSTRACT. Trade flows provide a conduit through which advanced production techniques and technological knowledge are transmitted across countries (Coe). By inducing rapid structural change and shifting employment within industrializing countries that liberalize, trade leads to falling real wages and declining working conditions and living standards.
