THE CORPORATE RESTRUCTURING OF THE UNIVERSITY SYSTEM
ELVIRA NICAABSTRACT. Over the past decade, there has been increasing evidence describing the commercialization of higher education, the corporate attacks on the public university system, the expanding of the academic marketplace, and the marketization of previously public university functions. Applying new conceptual and methodological approaches, this study advances to the next level research on the marketization of university culture, the consumerism that has taken hold in higher education, the shift to students assuming the largest burden in financing their higher education, and the tremendous demand for highly educated people in our society. pp. 142–147
