LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP: DATA DRIVEN DECISION-MAKING IN ACADEMIC GLOBALIZATION
CATHY PETERSON, JACE HARGISABSTRACT. While the underlying goals of educating students and creating new knowledge are common among US institutions of higher education, the preparedness for and activities toward becoming more globalized practically vary with each university. In preparing for globalization a comprehensive strategic planning process and faculty engagement in the process are essential components of the infrastructure. In addition, data external to the university are informative when determining how to proceed forward while still aligning to the university mission. The purpose of this paper is to share the market analysis conducted by one university as part of a feasibility study for a proposed global program for faculty development. pp. 109–117
