ABSTRACT. I rely on recent literature (e.g., Buglass et al., 2017; Oberst et al., 2017; Wanga et al., 2018) to prove that the FoMO notion may clarify the link between mental health issues and problematic SNS or smartphone utilization. Using data from CivicScience, Deloitte, The Economist, EY Straits Times Graphics, Ipsos, Pew Research Center, Statista, The Wall Street Journal, and YouGov, I performed analyses and made estimates regarding the number of times individuals estimate they look at their phones in a day (U.S., by age group, years), share of respondents who cannot imagine life without the Internet, time U.S. teens could go without using the following devices, % of cell owners who did the following using their cellphone during their most recent social gathering, top online activities individuals engage in at least once a day, and how often U.S. Internet users unplug.
