ABSTRACT. Following recent research on patient-oriented decision making in the medical sphere, I have identified and provided empirical evidence on Internet of Things-based health monitoring systems. Building my argument by drawing on data collected from Accenture, Deloitte, HIS, PAC, and Statista, I performed analyses and made estimates regarding Internet of Things connected devices installed base worldwide and preparedness of medtech companies towards maintaining the cybersecurity of connected medical devices.
