THE PECULIARITY OF RAWLS' CONTRACTUAL PROCEDURE
SEVASTIAN BLENDEAABSTRACT. Rawls claims that we should take societies' existence as given, a fact of life for each individual. The original position is constructed such that it restricts the possible range of choices the parties in it can make in a way that models certain fairness conditions. The Rawls of Political Liberalism must confine the principles of justice to principles for the institutions of the basic structure.
