ABSTRACT. The objective of this paper is to emphasize the importance of news use, information processing and cognitive complexity; television narration and visual form: audience processing of television news, understanding the effect of television news, and the unbundling and mobilization of television’s segmental units; and television’s commitment to realism: the increasing homogenisation of news content, evaluating the performance of the news media, and the increasing diversification of the multimedia environment.
