THE CREATION AND COMMUNICATION OF A SHARED SOCIAL REALITY
GEORGE LAZAROIUABSTRACT. The purpose of this paper will be to supply an overview of the mass amateurization of publishing versus the specialness of professional publishing, digital culture and participatory technologies, and the prominence and pervasiveness of public drama in mainstream news cycles (the emergence of public drama as an increasingly popular form of news). Shirky holds that the old limitations of media have been radically reduced. Deuze sees indymedia to be a journalistic genre, serving as a platform for the production and dissemination of news and information. Zuckerman argues that millions of people around the world create abundant content for a potentially global audience. Monahan focuses on how news is put together and communicated to news consumers.
