ABSTRACT. Over the past decade, there has been increasing evidence describing the right to work of asylum seekers, direct and indirect consequences of post-migration stressors on the socio-economic assimilation of refugees, the obstacles encountered by refugees in accessing employment, and asylum seekers’ condition as aspiring workers. As a result of these earlier research findings, this study sought to determine the keeping out of asylum seekers from work, the significance of social and cultural means to refugees’ socio-economic assimilation, the effects of granting the right to work to asylum seekers, and the impacts of post-migration detention on their mental health. pp. 227–233
