ABSTRACT. In this paper we integrate the literature on differences in the regulation of migration management, the politics of labor migration regulation, the negative public perception of immigration, the new paradigm of managed migration, and the direction of global migration flows, with the issues of the rise of cognitive capitalism, the knowledge-based industries, the production processes of capitalism, the intellectual’s role in the division of labor, and the production of contemporary cognitive capitalism. The overall results provide strong evidence for globalization of labor markets and migration, the role of information provided by migrants in stimulating trade, the economic impacts of migrants upon the host countries, the distributional impacts of immigration, and the net impact of migration upon total income. pp. 151–156
