ABSTRACT. We will claim after several in-situ experiments and a thorough reading of the literature in case, Malcolm Lowry’s Under the Volcano included to be sure, that the mezcal-induced psychosis, which could well be called “mescalitis,” different from “mescaline,” interests mainly the dopaminergic system, hyperexcited by the pleasure to drink and, equally so, by the need to drink – to the extent one could rightly speak in the end of a so-called mescal-induced psychosis. This “final stage” left aside for the moment though, we will now be focusing on the thin line that differentiates pleasure from need.

Keywords: motivation; dopamine; schizophrenia; anxiety; schizodiscourse; affective disorder
