DEMOCRATIC SEXUALITY AND ALIENATED CAPITALISM IN HOUELLEBECQ’S NOVELS
CARMEN PETCUABSTRACT. In this paper I am particularly interested in exploring Houellebecq’s approach of sex, his concern with the adverse consequences of neoliberalism on the private and sentimental life, and his thoroughgoing contempt of the sexual liberation. This research makes conceptual and methodological contributions to Houellebecq’s position on sexual politics, his sexual imaginary, and his examination of the complementary advancement of sexual consumerism and capitalist labor process.
