THE EXHAUSTION OF GREEK POLITICAL SYSTEM AND A SOCIETY IN FLAMES
DIMITRA KARANTZENIABSTRACT. Recession and major financial instability in Greece have been accom- panied by a deep socio-political crisis. The author aims to analyze the inability of both dominant and opposing political parties to meet public’s expectations and develop a sustainable ideological schema that would ensure social unity. It is furthermore argued that this kind of political deficit has allowed anti-establishment, ultra-nationalist political forces to rise, offering to citizens a dangerously attractive, alternative perspective to identify with. pp. 288–292
