THE ART OF CONTRAST: AESTHETIC EXPERIENCES
CRINUTA POPESCUABSTRACT. Our paper contributes to the literature by providing evidence on the temporal order of music, the unique significance of music, the ubiquity of music in human culture, and music’s proximity to language and its nonrepresentational nature. The paper generates insights about the process of musical performance, the acceptability and emotional meaning of music, the function of music for affect regulation, and the aesthetic properties of music. pp. 187–192
