ABSTRACT. The mainstay of the paper is formed by an analysis of corruption’s negative impacts in developing countries, the benefits and costs of anti-corruption, international involvement in fighting corruption in emerging economies, the construction of corruption as a global problem, and the global agenda against corruption. The results of this study further establish the importance of the relation between powerful antidotes to corruption, the complexity of anti-corruption measures, the economic and social costs of corruption, the impact of corruption and governance on development, and corruption in a political economy context. pp. 166–171
