ABSTRACT. The main objective of this paper is to explore and describe the relationship between dreams and music, the merging of feeling and reflection in the experience of music, and classical music’s capacity to unfold a complex discursive whole. Richter asserts that dreams and music traverse Bloch’s texts in a variety of modulations and tonalities: he dreams to the music of thought-images. Johnson holds that classical music is distinguished by a self-conscious attention to its own musical language. (pp. 176–181)
