ADRIANA NEACSUABSTRACT. Consciousness belongs to a different ontological category from that of the physical world. Consciousness is always constituted by a tacit self-consciousness. The conception of a conscious mental state which does not include this self-conscious dimension is incoherent, since it would be an unconscious conscious state.
