Spirituality and the dimensions of personality
DOINA COSMAN, BOGDAN C.S. PÎRVUABSTRACT. Starting from the Five-Factor model of personality we wonder whether spirituality and religiousness fit in the model, and then whether they could predict the disfunctions and disorders of personality – to conclude that antisocial, narcissistic, schizotypal and even borderline personality disorders are deviations in which selfishness and manipulation are essential, which is why it is quite obvious that they might work as a healing element. Their special value in the treatment of personality disorders then resides in their anti-narcissistic aspects. Spirituality and religiousness require the understanding of extended patterns of relationship, generating an increased honesty and intimacy with other people.
