Smart City Big Data Analytics: Urban Technological Innovations and the Cognitive Internet of Things
Grațiela SionABSTRACT. I inspect the relevant literature on smart city big data analytics, providing both quantitative evidence on trends and numerous in-depth empirical examples. Building my argument by drawing on data collected from ESI ThoughtLab, KPMG, McKinsey, and Osborne Clarke, I performed analyses and made estimates regarding how smart cities can reduce the cost of living (% change in average annual expenditure), how cities are now or planning to fund their smart city programs (%), and needed improvements for smart cities’ management of energy and resources (%). Data collected from 4,600 respondents are tested against the research model by using structural equation modeling.
