ABSTRACT. According to Clark, globalization denotes movements in both the intensity and the extent of international interactions. Monbiot states that everything has been globalized except our consent: democracy alone has been confined to the nation state. Beck argues that the advent of globalization involves not only an erosion of the tasks and institutions of the state, but also a fundamental transformation of its underlying premisses. (pp. 192– 196)
