Can Smart Cities Be Environmentally Sustainable? Urban Big Data Analytics and the Citizen-driven Internet of Things
Christine MorganABSTRACT. Despite the relevance of the possibility that smart cities be environmentally sustainable, only limited research has been conducted on this topic. Using and replicating data from ESI ThoughtLab, KPMG, McKinsey, Osborne Clarke, Phillips, and SmartCitiesWorld, I performed analyses and made estimates regarding the relationship between urban big data analytics and the Citizen-driven Internet of Things. The results of a study based on data collected from 4,600 respondents provide support for my research model. Using the structural equation modeling, I gathered and analyzed data through a self-administrated questionnaire.
