ABSTRACT. The purpose of this study was to empirically examine urban sensing technologies and geospatial big data analytics in Internet of Things-enabled smart cities. Building our argument by drawing on data collected from Accenture, Deloitte, ESI ThoughtLab, ISC, ITU, KPMG, McKinsey, Nutter Consulting, RICS, UNESCAP, UNHSP, and USDN, we performed analyses and made estimates regarding how computationally networked urbanism optimizes data-driven Internet of Things systems. Smart cities configure sustainable urban development by harnessing networked and integrated sustainable urban technologies. Smart city applications harness Internet of Things sensing infrastructures and machine learning-based analytics by use of data-driven planning technologies. Interconnected sensor networks typify integrated sustainable urban technologies and smart cities. Descriptive statistics of compiled data from the completed surveys were calculated when appropriate.
