Based on an in-depth survey of the literature, the purpose of the paper is to explore big data-driven urban geopolitics and immersive hyper-connected virtual spaces developing on real-time data monitoring and digital twin modeling tools, predictive control and computer vision algorithms, and immersive visualization and smart city software systems. Throughout March 2023, a quantitative literature review of the Web of Science, Scopus, and ProQuest databases was performed, with search terms including “big data-driven digital twin urban geopolitics and immersive hyper-connected virtual spaces” + “blockchain-enabled Internet of Things and virtual sensor networks,” “mobile cloud and edge computing systems,” and “predictive modeling and cognitive data fusion techniques.” As research published in 2022 and 2023 was inspected, only 151 articles satisfied the eligibility criteria, and 23 mainly empirical sources were selected. Data visualization tools: Dimensions (bibliometric mapping) and VOSviewer (layout algorithms). Reporting quality assessment tool: PRISMA. Methodological quality assessment tools include: AMSTAR, Dedoose, Distiller SR, and SRDR.
