ABSTRACT. Our paper contributes to the literature by providing evidence on the obstacles that student loan debtors should overcome with the aim of obtaining relief. This research makes conceptual and methodological contributions to the alterations bankruptcy reform generated on the private student loan market. Our analysis complements the growing literature on the consequences of Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act in the private student loan market.
