INTRODUCTION TO BAKHTIN AT THE BOUNDARIES?
E.J. WHITEABSTRACT. The increased interest in the work of Mikhail Bakhtin, members of the Bakhtin Circle(s), and their informants among Western scholars have been particularly evident since the 1980s. Bakhtin’s ideas about dialogism – spanning significant historical and political epochs – have been a source of inspiration for various approaches within different disciplines and across diverse communities. It was for this reason that the University of Waikato (Te Whare Wananga o Waikato) in collaboration with Waikato-Tainui College for Research and Development, and the Centre for Global Studies in Education at Waikato hosted a major international conference, The Fourth Interdisciplinary Conference on “The Perspectives and Limits of Dialogism in Mikhail Bakhtin” in January 2014 [http://mikhailbakhtin4.blogspot.co.nz/]. pp. 11–16
