ABSTRACT. The objective of this paper is to emphasize Bitcoin’s fluctuating value, the pseudoanonymous nature of Bitcoin payments, Bitcoin’s ability to serve as regulation-free virtual cash, and the risk regimes operational in the Bitcoin ecosystem. The mainstay of the paper is formed by an analysis of Bitcoin’s flexibility, the pseudonymous nature of Bitcoin, the potential sustainability of Bitcoin, and the distribution of computing power in Bitcoin. pp. 57–62
