ABSTRACT. This essay attempts to discuss the feasibility of advancing intercultural dialogues. Being inspired by Michael Peters’ critiques against the Eurocentrism in Heidegger’s philosophy and advocacy of comparative and intercultural philosophy, this essay reflects upon the post-colonial criticisms about hybridity as well as interculturalism, and maintains that the discursive trends from the post-colonial to the intercultural reflect the desire at the policy level to grapple with the increasingly complex interactions between different groups. To a certain extent, “post-colonial” and “intercultural” paradigms have similar concerns. Nevertheless, the failure to explicitly address uneven positions and dynamisms interwoven by (geo-)political and economic factors among groups prevents the attainment of the goals that dominant policies advocating intercultural dialogues seek to achieve. pp. 95–105
