ABSTRACT. The mainstay of the paper is formed by an analysis of media coverage of publicity-seeking crimes, the media’s discussion of the war on terror, media’s role as an instrument of war, and terrorism’s prominence in the news. In this paper I am particularly interested in exploring the value of maintaining a consistent media presence, the significance of media-based tactics, the relationship between terrorism and the media, and mainstream media’s coverage of the war on terror. pp. 254–259

Keywords: media coverage, terrorism, news, war, journalism
