ABSTRACT. This paper provides a systematic literature review of studies investigating big data-based intelligent decision and spatial cognition algorithms, urban analytics and digital twin modeling tools, and virtual immersive and cloud computing technologies. Throughout January 2025, a quantitative literature review of the Web of Science, Scopus, and ProQuest databases was performed, with search terms including “digital twin cities and hyper-realistic 3D worlds” + “Internet of Things wireless network and immersive visualization systems,” “predictive modeling and spatial perception algorithms,” and “infrastructure virtualization and extended reality technologies.” As research published in 2022 and 2023 was inspected, only 163 articles satisfied the eligibility criteria, and 19 mainly empirical sources were selected. Data visualization tools: Dimensions (bibliometric mapping) and VOSviewer (layout algorithms). Reporting quality assessment tool: PRISMA. Methodological quality assessment tools include: AXIS, Catchii, R package and Shiny app citationchaser, Eppi-Reviewer, Litstream, and PICO Portal.
