ABSTRACT. Insights from literature (e.g. Frenken, 2017; Habibi, Davidson, and Laroche, 2017; Kumar, Lahiri, and Dogan, 2018; Schor, 2017, etc.) suggest that the sharing economy should not be disunited from the labor market framework in which it activates. Using various data, we performed analyses and made estimates regarding the proportion of online consumers eager to take part in sharing groups, clarifying that for-profit platforms may generate economic benefits by substituting traditional economic activity with cutting-edge technologies and groundbreaking business patterns.
